Hi All & Welcome Back -

For anyone who has been in or near the school since summer - doesn't it look wonderful??  Amazing what a new face paint puts on an old building!!

There are also a lot of new faces among our Students & we would like to take this opportunity to Welcome everyone and we hope you are settling in well and feeling at home at St. Emile.

There are a couple of issues that the office wishes to address via this note home -

The first is when addresses, phone #'s, e-mail addresses, authorized emergency contacts, etc. change, please let the office know.  We have to be able to get in touch with someone in the case of accident or illness of your child and if we don't have up-to-date information available - it can delay our ability to contact you.  Please e-mail updates to either myself (emile.accounting@stemileschool.ca) or Suzanne (office@stemileschool.ca).  At the earliest opportunity, please drop in to the office & pick up a new Registration form & complete it for your child.  In the event that your child needs emergency care - this is the document that would go to the hospital, etc with your child.  Having outdated information or completing the document as "Same as last year" means that valuable time is lost looking for last year's (or the year before or the year before that) forms.

The second item is in regard to the St. Emile Children's Centre.  We have had a population explosion in the SECC & particularly in the After School Program.  A great many of our wee ones are indeed wee ones, and the Pre Kindergarten - Kindergarten & Grade 1 children have a lower Child to Staff ratio.  We have had a number of parents assume that it is perfectly okay to use the SECC on a Drop In basis, and this has resulted in numbers in excess of what we can safely accomodate.  This is the case whether your child is 4 or 14!

The Registration forms that you received for the Children's Centre clearly state that Casual/Calendar use would be available on an "as available" basis.  Unfortunately, effective immediately, casual use is no longer available until further notice.  We are attempting to locate an additional person who is willing to come in as a casual care worker for the After Program, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Until we can find someone, we are not able to accept casual use by parents.  Please make alternate arrangements for your child's/children's care.  In addition, the only children who are ensured a spot in any of the programs are those who have registered for permanent spaces.  Anyone requesting a spot other than a permanent spot, should be prepared with alternate arrangements as the anwer may well be "No Space Available".

This will continue until such time as we are able to hire an additional person.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.  If you love kids as we do, & would like to apply for the Casual Care Worker position - please contact Mr Yaworsky or Cathy Holmes in the School office.

Thank you for your understanding!
