Library Resources

The library at St. Emile strives to provide an environment of active learning. The cheerful, bright space is bustling with students and staff sharing a wide range of resources for research and reading pleasure. The space occupied by the library was recently renovated and the collection weeded and renewed at that time. Consequently, the library now houses over 6000 current books, videos and CD-ROMs.

One full-time librarian schedules classes to visit the library once per cycle to borrow and exchange books. The librarian provides book talks and literature enrichment at this time. As well, students are encouraged to come to the library whenever there is any need for research and reading material. The librarian provides students with guidance in the research process following the information literacy models. In collaboration with teachers, resources for curriculum based projects are provide to classrooms in a timely fashion.

Among the benefits of the library program at St. Emile are the fostering of life-long learning, the development of proficiency in information retrieval and an appreciation and knowledge of fine literature.
