About St. Emile Catholic School

We are a Catholic Christian community of learners dedicated to nurturing independent, disciplined and successful students. We are a small, close knit school with a VERY dedicated staff. We have high expectations for our students and high expectations for our team.

Over 60 Years of Academic Excellence

Father Lionel Bouvier founded St. Emile in 1960. In its first year, there were 26 Grade one students who were taught by Renee France LaBossiere. Today, more than 375 students attend St. Emile from pre-kindergarten through grade 8.

We are Southeast Winnipeg’s Only Catholic Private School

We are located on St. Anne’s Road just one block south of Bishop Grandin Boulevard, close to the South Perimeter in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are a short drive from Sage Creek, Royalwood, South St. Vital, Island Lakes and rural communities including Lorette and Grande Pointe.

A Traditional Education with a Modern Twist

We are dedicated to educating children both morally and academically, giving parents confidence that they will be ready for the future. We are also on the cutting edge in terms of technology, with SMART Boards in every classroom, a mobile computer lab with iPads for early years and 3 class sets of Chromebooks for the upper grades.

The Support You and Your Children Need

St. Emile’s professional and dynamic staff of teachers includes a full-time resource teacher and team of educational assistants, as well as Physical Education and French specialists. We also have the support of Child Guidance Clinicians including speech and language therapists, psychologists and family support workers. The Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth curriculum and the Catholic catechism program are taught at all grade levels.

We believe in working in partnership with the Parish, seeking to be part of its mission and outreach to the community.

We believe in creating a setting where children deepen their relationship with God, celebrate their belonging, grow in faith, encompass His love and spread His Good News through daily life.

We believe in providing inclusive education to meet the needs of all learners.

We believe in promoting educational experiences to support all students’ success.

We believe in presenting opportunities for service and mission that encompass local, national, and global needs.

We believe in planning responsibly for the future growth and needs of the school.

Our Vision

St. Emile Catholic School is a Christian community of learners dedicated to nurturing the development of capable, collaborative, contributing, and caring students.

Our Mission

St. Emile Catholic School strives to provide an inclusive education within a faith-based environment that fosters the spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of all members of our community.

Parents Association

The St. Emile Parents’ Association, of which all parents and guardians are a part, performs two core functions. One is to raise funds for our school and students by coordinating various fundraising events throughout the school year. In the past, funds raised have contributed to the upgrading of the library and playground, and also the purchasing of information technology, audio-visual and science equipment for the school.

The other main function is to participate in fostering a strong community school spirit. This is done by supporting and running events such as a school barbeque, hot dog and pizza days, pancake day, teacher appreciation week, sock hops and parent information evenings.

Parents are invited to attend meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of the month. Please contact any of the committee members if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Our Parent-Run Board of Directors

Our parent-run board of directors is one of many ways in which we involve parents in the school. We believe in clear communication and transparency, and having the voices of parents on our board helps us achieve our mission and vision.

The St. Emile School Board is comprised of both volunteer parents of children in the school and parishioners of St. Emile Church. The board works in conjunction with the administration and staff of the school to set policy and ensure the needs of the school are met through the budgeting process. The St. Emile School Board mission is to provide a safe, caring environment where children can learn to the best of their abilities.

The board meets once a month and they welcome visitors to meetings, asking only for notice in advance. The board also welcomes any parents/guardians interested in becoming board members to either contact the board president, or make their interests known at our annual general meeting.

We offer children in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Eight a varied learning environment that is faith based, academically challenging and community minded! Please browse our website and feel free to contact us for further information.
